(A novel)
She decided to go and check who is in the other building quite far from her place.She couldn’t stop herself as it was the only light she watched in many days.When the whole world was dying around her,she was unable to resist life.
She picked up her candle and came out of her home.this residential building was once a hub of light and life .All apartments were full of families, people coming and going,kids playing in the backyards,cars parking in the parking lot……cars were still there,parked but were full of dust now.No one approached them to go somewhere.No one opened the door,no one ignite the engine and left the building. The evil of death has engulfed them all.
“What she was doing there? Alone?”
Descending the dark stairs,she was asking herself. She wasn’t afraid as fear has been long gone now.She had been hell scared in early days but now this disaster has become a new normal for her.It was usual for her,as scary as always,as dark as usual,and as alone as it has ever been.
She reached the ground floor and tried to find out the direction. .She came out of the building and looked around.The night was dark,voided of stars.
That building with a dim light inside was on the other side of the corner.she started walking toward the building amid the deserted compound.Sometimes she can listen a dog bark or a cat’s wailing.Gone were the days when those cats were darling pets and dogs were dear buddies. It was a time when life existed on this land.when the high rise buildings were proud of their highest status and class.People were proud and snob. The streets were overflowing of luxury cars,Mercedes, Range Rover ,Porsche,
BMW,Rolls Royce….the elite were wearing Rolax and Burberry, living on the top floors of luxury apartments or town houses.when the splendid sun was overcome by the central air conditioning. Gone were those days.
gone are those days!
She almost reached at the corner of the road to face the building that attracted her attention. The light was still on!!!
